Apple, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft were among the companies that opposed the lawsuit. The US has issued nearly 100,000 work permits to spouses of H-1B workers, many of whom are Indians.
Judge Chutkan stated that Congress had authorized the US Government to authorize employment as an acceptable condition for H-4 spouses’ stay in the US, rejecting Save Jobs USA’s argument that Congress had not granted the Department of Homeland Security the authority to permit foreign nationals, such as H-4 visa holders, to work while in the US.

According to the judge, the explicit and implicit congressional ratification of that practice and decades of executive-branch practice are written directly into the text of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
Ajay Bhutoria, a community leader and immigrant rights advocate, praised the decision, stating that it would provide much-needed relief to financially struggling families.
The H1B visa program allows skilled foreign workers to come to the United States and work for American businesses.
